The 7th annual sleep Cheap has come once again to fulfill locals delight to enjoy a mini vacation right in their own city.
Today is the day that locals have a chance to experience Niagara Falls like a tourist would. The days of Nov. 13-17 are dedicated to local residents to Sleep Cheap, a charity event held in the tourist district of Niagara Falls, Ont. Canada. The event has been a success and other communities, such as Niagara-on-the-Lake, have tried it with their bed-and-breakfast operators. Hotel rooms will become available for booking starting at 7 a.m., on Monday, that’s today folks.
20+ hotel properties, that includes all the major hotels and all three of the water parks will be taking reservations. Participating Sleep Cheap hotels offer their rooms to Niagara region residents only, which start as little as $35 a room. None of this would be possible if it wasn’t for the generous hotel operators in Niagara Falls, offering thousands of rooms for a great cause. The hotels fill up quickly during this short period of time and the tourist area starts to buzz with local residents putting money right back into their community.
Over the last six years, Sleep Cheap has raised more than $800,000 for local charities.
Half of the money raised goes to the Niagara Community Foundation and the rest is distributed to local charities selected by the Sleep Cheap Charities Committee.
“This is a win-win situation for everyone that’s involved and I’m extremely humbled by the successes that Sleep Cheap has had because I had no idea it was going to fly the way it did,” said Jim Diodati (Mayor of Niagara Falls, Ont. Canada).
To book your rooms, contact the hotels directly. Promotion rooms will be restricted to Niagara Region residents 21 years of age and older, with a current valid credit card.
All reservations start on Monday, October 24, 2011 at 7:00 a.m.
Sorry you can not book the rooms from our website, but that would be a nice option for future events.
Have fun, play safe, and see you all on the flip side.
