Winter Festival of Lights will be extended this year.

NIAGARA FALLS, ON CANADA - The Winter Festival of Lights is happy to announce that the 29th annual event will be extended an extra 28 days which means it will end on January 31, 2012 this year. The extension is a result of inquiries received from visitors and local residents to allow them the opportunity to enjoy the Winter Festival of Lights beyond the hectic holiday season. The year's Festival begins November 5th with Opening Ceremonies held in Queen Victoria Park featuring appearances by Disney(R) characters, fireworks and more.

CYTEC Candy Cane Lane 5k Race & Fun Run

Lundy's Lane a.k.a Candy Cane Lane

The 7th Annual CYTEC Candy Cane Lane 5k Race & Fun Run presented by RBC Royal Bank takes place on November 20, 2011 at 10:30am. It was established to promote both outdoor physical activity and healthy lifestyles while raising food and cash donations for the Project S.H.A.R.E. Christmas Basket Program, and has quickly established itself as a prestigious, yet fun event organized in association with the Niagara Falls International Marathon.

5k Race:
Runners from across the Niagara Region, GTA and Western New York continue to participate in the 5k Race. They complete two circuits of the 2.5 km route which starts at the Best Western Cairn Croft Hotel, travels along Lundy’s Lane (a.k.a. Candy Cane Lane) and surrounding streets and ends back at the Best Western Cairn Croft. The top three male and female finishers in up to 13 age groups are awarded medals while the Overall Top Male and Female runners each receive a $250 cash prize.

Fun Run: The Fun Run
is one lap around the 2.5 km route and allows families and friends to participate in a non-competitive fashion. All are encouraged to participate using creative ways to make the run fun, i.e. costumes, team themes, etc. Fun Runners may walk (even with baby strollers), use sleighs or skis with the ultimate goal being to have fun while enjoying an outdoor physical activity. Each participant will receive an event t-shirt. In both cases, those raising funds for Project S.H.A.R.E. can earn additional prizes based on pledge amounts. Afterwards, the Best Western Cairn Croft offers a pasta party lunch for $7 and stay for the award presentations where thanks to RBC Royal Bank.

Elementary School Challenge:
Be the school with the most participation & school spririt and win a Niagara Ice Dogs In-School Appearance.
